Summary
Five Minutes for France is a story of childhood beginnings in Southern California and resurfacing forty years later in the Mediterranean. My wife, author Bronwyn Wilson, spent much of her lifetime worrying about things that would never happen. When her world began to shrink smaller and smaller as physical ailments grew larger and larger, she began asking questions. How has this happened? What is anxiety? Where does it come from? Where does it lead? This memoir answers those questions as Bronwyn travels through her fears and her struggles with knowledge, insight, and a keen understanding of her inner challenges. How does she handle dangling in a gondola high above the town of Funchal, Portugal; sliding down a mile-long road in a wicker basket; or finding herself in Barcelona without underwear? Looking back on her life, Bronwyn saw a pattern in the way she had lived her life for many years. Rather than making room for the joy in her present circumstances, she focused on potential dangers and how to avoid them, allowing her anxiety to become debilitating over time. Bronwyn's story offers a message of hope and humor for those suffering from anxiety or for those who know someone living with it or for those simply wanting a good read. Jerry Wilson
