Summary
Fifteen-year-old Mooney Pottie is a misfit. Her dreams of attending a writing college in New York City are too big for the small, conservative coal-mining town of New Waterford, Cape Breton. In the mid 70's, in this cramped little Catholic community on Canada's east coast, there's only one reason a young lady would leave and it would not be by choice! A high-spirited sixteen-year-old New Yorker named Lou moves into town, bringing her fists of justice and fury: dropping guys with a single punch, if they deserve it. Thanks to her somewhat randy pal, Mooney comes up with an escape plan
