Summary
The book begins with a very brief description of my own life: Born to a single mother, then taken into the home of my stepfather, a combat hardened veteran of the Korean War. I detail how my stepfathers' valor, integrity, leadership, and guidance shaped my development and gave me life management skills that still benefit me today. The book then takes the reader into United States Navy boot camp, and the helicopter squadron I was assigned to in Hawaii, and then ultimately into the Los Angeles Police Academy. I take the reader through these institutions in an effort to illustrate to the young mind the importance of strong mentors, and the benefits of learning from and modeling them as a mechanism for character development. The reader is then encouraged through the pages of the book of the need to look forward into the future of their young lives and to begin developing "Life Plans"" that will guide them to what could hopefully be a bright and prosperous future
