Summary
Spooky, the cheeky little dog, finds a new home on a farm in Australia where he has many adventures and makes many new friends. In Meg Bannisters first book, Spooky meets the children who are going to look after him. He goes to the farm and his new home and meets some of the animals living there including Jessie the working sheep dog, some squawking chickens, three noisy geese and the giant ginger cat named Tiger. How does Spooky get on with these animals? What do they show him? What adventures does he have? These delightful tales of different facets of life in the Australian bush and countryside are an excellent learning medium for children from ages approximately 4 to 10 years. Children are shown patience, equality, community interaction and the acceptance of diversity. They also learn about nature and how we all depend on animals, birds, insects and plants for our existence. City children learn about the role of animals on the farm, and find out where our food comes from. Children all over the world learn about life in Australia and some of the unique Australian flora and fauna. Each book of Spookys adventures contains three stand-alone stories illustrated with charming sketches by the author. Coming up in Book 2: Spookys adventures continue and he finally talks to Tiger the cat
