Summary
Seventeen-year-old Ellen never wanted a holiday. What is there to do in a mining town in the northernmost corner of Sweden, with no one but her brother Simon for company, a boy with Asperger's who cares for nothing but collecting plants and solving crime mysteries? Nothing, that is, until the siblings stumble onto a horrifying crime scene that brings them knee-deep into a generations-long conflict between the townspeople and the native Sami. Simon's deduction skills lead him to suspect people in the town, but when the police dismiss his findings, he decides to find the perpetrator himself. Ellen reluctantly helps, yet when she uncovers a link between the crime and the siblings' own past, she becomes irrevocably involved. What started as a tedious holiday becomes a dangerous journey through hatred, lies, and self-discovery that makes Ellen question not only the relationship with her parents but the nature of her own identity
