Summary

Directed by Garth Davis and set in the Holy Land in the 1st century BC, a young girl (Rooney Mara) leaves behind her small fishing village and her traditional family to join a new social movement radical. At its head is a charismatic leader, Jesus of Nazareth (Joaquin Phoenix), who promises that the world is changing. Maria is looking for a new way of life and an authenticity denied by the rigid hierarchies of the time
