- Este libro cuenta una historia sobre la manera como las críticas al liberalismo y a la democracia, propias del siglo XX, impactaron las construcciones teórico-constitucionales de los estados de excepción en Argentina, Chile y Colombia entre 1930 y 1990. El autor nos invita a mirar la historia de las ideas jurídicas en la región a partir de un marco interpretativo de dos niveles: el primero conecta la política y el derecho, y el segundo integra la construcción global y local del derecho. Esto implica que, por un lado, los argumentos constitucionales sobre los estados de excepción se conectaron de diversas formas con las distintas ideologías políticas que se difundieron por la región en el siglo pasado; y por otro lado, que esas estructuras de pensamiento constitucional se fueron creando en el marco de lenguajes globales genéricos que si bien fueron hegemónicos, al mismo tiempo permitieron a los juristas e intelectuales articular disímiles interpretaciones sobre sus realidades locales. Con el uso de herramientas de derecho comparado, estudios jurídicos críticos e historia de las ideas, el libro es una interpretación específica de la forma como el derecho constitucional construyó su propio espacio político en donde los abogados se enfrentaron, algunas veces de manera irreconciliable, durante el siglo pasado
