Summary
There are few examples of pure evil more horrifying than the actions of Gertrude Baniszewski. In October, 1965, Indiana became home to one of the most cruel and horrifying murders the United States had ever seen-the murder of 16-year-old Sylvia Likens. Likens was tortured for three months by Baniszewski, Baniszewski's children, and their neighbourhood friends in a horrible game of emotional manipulation and terror. When Likens' will to live finally gave, her body followed. The 16-year-old finally passed away from shock, malnutrition, and a severe brain hemorrhage caused by months of severe beatings and other terrible deeds
